The media system installed by Luxury Digital is absolutely first class.

Despite the difficulties of working in a Grade II listed building the installation was done with the minimum of disruption by a very hard working and courteous team.

The thoughtful preparation work, sound advice and conscientious execution of a demanding project is to be commended.

I would highly recommend Luxury Digital to anyone contemplating a high quality sound and video system for either their home or business”

Grade II Listed Building Retrofit

Our client required a multi room audio and video solution throughout their Grade II listed building but had always been put off in the past with them being anxious of the mess and disruption it may have caused.  We were recommended to Mr and Mrs Dawson by another client of ours as they knew first hand we were experienced with retrofit installations.

The system comprised of a seven zone multi room audio system in various rooms such as Kitchen, Drawing Room, TV Room, Bathroom etc using Sonos and Nuvo speakers. A four zone high definition video system was added which we used a 4 x 4 HDMI matrix switcher serving any of there high definition sources to any TV at any time.  We staggered the installation room by room and cleared and lined the rooms with sheeting before work commenced as we had to pay particular attention to dust when cutting in to walls and ceilings as the house is around two hundred years old.

The Sonos system was perfect for this particular installation as it allowed more localized

amplifiers keeping speaker wiring to a minimum thus also providing a good signal for the

wireless Sonos controllers which connect to the Sonos system. We did however manage

to hard wire all the Sonos zone players with Cat 5e eliminating the possibility of wireless

dropouts etc.  You can control the full system from any Sonos controller so we placed a

few around the home in cupboards for easy access.  Sonos provides access to Mr and Mrs

Dawson’s music library contained in iTunes and also via there broadband connection it

gives them easy access to there favourite radio stations

Outside we installed a pair of weatherproof Accent Plus II speakers for the Patio area.

> Drawing Room

Mr and Mrs Dawson had long wanted a TV in the Drawing Room but a visible TV in the

Room was never going to be an option.  We proposed a Tri Custom picture TV frame that

allows the TV to be hidden with in a custom picture casing and the viewable screen area

hidden by a motorized picture roller.  The customer chose their own artwork from a local

photographer which we had printed to suit the frame setup and a custom picture surround

made up which was signed by the photographer.  We buried the cabling in the walls and

reinstated the plaster work but apart from that the solution caused little disruption.

A 5.1 Anthony Gallo surround sound system was added for the room using discreet Ti

speakers and a TR 2 subwoofer tucked out of sight.  An Onkyo cinema receiver which we

tucked away in a cupboard was also used for the setup.

> TV Control

URC MX 980 remote controls were used throughout the different rooms in the house for

TV and central source control allowing one button setup of what Mr and Mrs Dawson

wish to view.

> Media Max Server

1080P High Definition movies right through the house.

Available on any screen in the house is a high definition Media Max Server from Axonix.

The system can support literally thousands of movies in Blu ray, HD DVD and DVD.  It

also stores the families music, photos and holiday videos avoiding the hassle of searching

through movie collections in cupboards only to find an empty case.

> TV Room

Another area that features surround sound is the TV room.  We opted for 5.1 system using

RBH in ceiling speakers, a subwoofer from Polk and another Onkyo cinema receiver

supporting the latest formats.  The customer’s existing Sony plasma screen was used in the

room and mounted on the wall.
