Multi Room Audio and Video

A builder who we have worked with in the past was busy totally gutting a house. He recommended his client to us as he mentioned that he wanted a system installing as part of the refurbishment. We were involved a month before first fix electrical works so had plenty of time to iron out a system that suited the Family.

After a few meetings it was decided that a six source eight zone Nuvo Grand Concerto system was the right system for the Family as they did not require a huge amount of sources. A couple of iPod docks and a decent DAB tuner was all they needed as sources but good quality sound was required throughout. The Grand Concerto is such a smart easy to use system, the touch keypads and colour touch screens offer great control of there digital music content with instant on screen feedback of iPods and other connected sources.

Audio was installed in two areas of the garden, we also installed water proof touch keypads in the wall outside and in the Master En-suite bathroom for convenient control.

Video Distribution was also on the agenda and of importance as this house was certainly going to be clutter and cable free. After discussing the options it was clear a high definition system was the way forward along with RF distribution including Freeview and CCTV at each television. A Kramer 6 x 6 HDMI Matrix switcher was used for high definition video which allows six sources to be routed to six displays in any manner. Sources at the moment include 2 x Sky HD boxes and a Blu Ray player distributing 1080P movies to any of the six televisions. The system leaves options open for devices such as Movie Servers in the future. There is also a 12 year old lad in the family so we made sure he was catered for by integrating everything necessary so he lost little time on his games consoles during the move.

To control the system we provided a reliable URC programmable RF remote control in each room allowing easy one button press setup and control of the desired central or local source. CCTV is just a press of a button away, they even let you search recordings and playback footage with the remote via the televisions. The remote controls communicate with a central controller unit that handles all of the commands for each device on the system. They provide easy control of the audio system for selecting sources, volume and source control as well as turning zones on and off.

To finish off a 5.1 Cinema System was installed in the Family Room using 8” RBH In Ceiling Directional cinema speakers and a Polk Subwoofer. This is actually something the Family originally did not consider but its now probably their favourite part of the system.
