Media Servers — Please find below some of the popular Media Servers available
DF Solutions
DF Solutions produces high specification, High-
The Base
The Base© Media Server is a central unit that can supply independent audio in up to 17 individual rooms. So while Radio 1 is playing in the kitchen, a Kaiser Chiefs album can be playing in the living room and Queen in the Garden, all from your central media library.
Each audio output can be individually controlled by a wide variety of devices (iPhone,
IR remote, Crestron or Philips touch-
The Base© also manages movies and can play Blu ray from the included Blu Ray drive or from your network storage along with standard DVD, home movies and movie clips.
The Base offers near unlimited storage expansion using network attached storage drives on your home network which we supply and configure for you.
The Link
The Link© is a ‘slave’ unit to a Base© Media Server.
Added to a network already containing a Base©, the Link© provides an extra zone of audio and high definition video, so different movies can be playing in different rooms of the house at the same time from your networked media storage.
Each unit can be independently configured for different parental control requirements, which is perfect for kids rooms.
Link© units are also small, discrete and quiet, perfect for adding to an AV shelf in a Lounge or Bedroom.
Expanding storage
Storage can be easily added to the DF Solutions system using network attached storage (NAS) drives. These provide the most cost, space and energy efficient method for adding media storage to your system. – Link to NAS Solutions
Mozeax Media Servers
Mozaex were the first to introduce importing and cataloguing of the latest Blu Ray movies on to there servers and offer the latest high definition audio and video outputs to make the most of your new cinema system.
Mozaex offer a large range of media storage and playback products but they generally fall in to two categories – networked servers offering unlimited media storage and media players which streams and plays the audio and video media from the storage server/s, they do however offer all in one media players which can have built in storage. The servers are generally larger and installed somewhere out of site and the media players which come in various sizes are discreet enough to sit on an a shelf top or can also be installed out of view.
Simply insert a DVD, Blu Ray or CD in to one of the media players and the built in software will automatically take a copy, load it on to your storage server and download the relevant cover art and details of the movie from the internet. Your media can be available in any room and can be browsed by a great easy to use TV interface.
Mozaex systems can also be integrated in to home automation and audio systems such as Control 4, Philips and Netstreams
There are three different media players to choose from – Player 1, Player 2 and Player 3
Player 1 is a small unit which can be easily tucked away out of sight and also has the option of a DVD, Blu Ray drive
Player 2 is slightly larger and features a DVD/Blu Ray drive for playback and importing media on to the system. These feature the very latest 7.1 HD audio outputs.
Player 3 is a rugged version of the Player 2, usually used for commercial applications but just as effective in a residential system as they are specifically designed to mount in an equipment rack.
Mozaex also offers Solo units – Solo 1, Solo 2 and Solo 3
These are basically the same specification as the three Players above but feature built in storage which is available in various configurations
There are three server chassis to choose from which allow a huge amount storage, particularly handy if you have hundreds of Blu Ray movies. They feature up to 20TB of storage and also offer RAID configurations giving you the ultimate in performance and protection from loss of media if a hard drive should ever fail.
Multi Room Audio
The new Quartet and Bravo products provide a good solution if you want the Mozaex system to integrate in to a Multi Room audio system from. The Bravo and quartet feature four individual audio outputs which connect to, and can be controlled from supported multi room systems allowing different music in different rooms at the same time from your stored media.
Supported systems include Control 4 and Netstreams
Dune BD Media Players
Dune manufacture some great cost effective entry level media player solutions. They are available in many different sizes and configurations which can offer features such as built in storage (up to 2TB) and can also come equipped with or with out DVD/Blu Ray drives depending on your requirements.
They actually look like a standard Blu Ray player but offer so much more. The players play movies, music and photos stored on your home network which include Blu Ray’s, DVD’s and pretty much every other audio/video file in use today. Dune are due to release some small form factor units which are ideal for the kids bedrooms and provide a cost effective way of giving the kids easy access to your family and children’s movie collections, meaning no more arguments or lost DVD’s.
The players all connect to your stored media over your home network. Media can be stored on PC’s, but to avoid requiring your PC to be turned on we advise using a network attached storage (NAS) solution.
Network Attached Storage (NAS)
Adding storage to DF Solutions and Dune media setups
There are many different NAS devices available which offer virtually unlimited storage and also provide other features such as RAID protection. Put simply RAID will either provide protection against losing media due to a failed hard drive or increase the performance of reading data from the hard drives or a combination of both (recommended option). They connect to your home network using a Cat 5/6 cable making them available to your media players and PC’s, certainly the best method for adding storage to your network. The more popular NAS solutions we provide come as enclosures which are available in different sizes holding two, three, five or seven hard disk drives. The NAS enclosures are the most cost effective and space saving method of adding storage and also use the least energy to operate. Another great feature is the ability to easily add additional drives to an enclosure only when you require the extra space. They allow you to simply slot a new drive in to the enclosure and it will automatically add it to the storage system. We have installed many NAS solutions for both the Dune and DF Solutions Media Server solutions and have some preferred products we often use well suited to the application.
